I really resonate with what Charlie is saying on having children changes your politics. I had my first kid at 18 I was basically full anarchy rage against the machine we should just abolish government revolution very liberal.

By the time I had my second kid at 20 I was such a drastic change in my politics. Like instead of burning everything down I really wanted to create a world where my kids would have a chance. Where my kids wouldn't end up getting shipped off to war.

Having a family doesn't make you a good person but having a well maintained family does indicate some level of responsibility

The biggest takeaway from that discussion:

Charlie Kirk suddenly develops empathy once he becomes directly involved in something, until then there's zero consideration for someone else's situation.

I've bought a house: aren't property taxes too high!

I've had a child: oh my god, isn't taking care of someone else a huge strain on me and my finances!

His surprise that Cenk's political viewpoint didn't change upon experiencing these life changes said it all, "You didn't have a revelation when you found all these things suck?" No, Charlie, we understood that these things are hard for everybody, we don't wait until we're in the same position to feel sympathy.

Ana, I'm super disappointed in your agreement with Charlie that non-homeowners care less about the country than homeowners. That is like what JD Vance says about people with kids.

I am a psychologist without children. I help veterans and police officers with trauma. My not having children has allowed me the time and energy to dedicate myself to helping others. Helping others has given me a sense of purpose and I see this in others who have careers without children. My reward is in giving as it should be for any healthy human being. I can’t get over the change with Charlie Kirk when he does these interviews with Cenk and Ana. With them he comes across as reasonable, but when I listen to his shows, he says the most hateful stuff.

I am historically not a fan of TYT. But to be honest, the more civil conversations you have with people on the other side of aisle, such as this one, the more broad of an audience you will get, and the more credibility you will garner. I am seeing more of this, and it is a GOOD sign for the general discourse in the world. Keep it up, and you will have more conservatives like me hearing what you have to say. Simply put, everyone in the conversation just seems so normal and cool when they’re not yelling at each other.. who would have thought?!
