This video looks at whether Index Funds or buying individual stocks is best for investors. I look at some of the things you need to think about, common mistakes and look at the past performance going back decades to discuss buying individual stocks compared to index funds. The big question is, should you just buy index funds and never look at the market? Or should you pick some stocks that you think are undervalued and make some massive returns? Watch the video to find out.

I prefer individual stocks. I know when I will get paid dividends. My portfolio contains stocks from established companies like Pepsi which will help reduce risk.

Thanks Tony, really great to hear your opinion clearly and concisely presented as always. Mixing my portfolio with a foundation of index funds and a roof of individual stocks. The only reason I’m buying individual stocks (boring old blue chip consistent payers) is for the income from dividends they provide. Not expecting growth just steady dividend income (I’m the wrong side of 50). Appreciate this isn’t for everyone, wonder what your views are?

Hi Toby, I've been investing for the last couple of months so its all very new. Building up a portfolio of individual stocks, growth tec and UK dividends, plus growing a position in a couple of Vanguard ETFs which over time will become the dominate part of the portfolio, with hopefully the boost over the longterm of the growth/dividend stocks. Thanks for your very helpful videos. 👍

Try mayonnaise with a little bit of mustard mixed in. Great on the side of a roast dinner to dip your roasties and meat in. Don’t judge me until you have tried it 😂

Definitely index funds and maybe a little tiny bit for stocks that doesn't matter if I lose it for some fun, or maybe just a virtual account to try to pick stocks.
Right now though bubble is bursting so is this a time for buying in big whilst its cheaper than it was but still in bubble territory or is it a time to dca slowly as it may go down even more?
Not expecting a definitive answer obviously no one knows.

Thank you, it is recommended to read and listen carefully to Jack Bogle, saving billions for investors, whose words are true and valid, unless you are Charlie Manger, Peter Lynch or just a gambler
