What You'd See When Falling Into or Orbiting Black Holes - VR/360

Black holes bend light in extreme ways near the event horizon, it can focus light into a ring, and create mirror images of the universe.
Using Space Engine and the 360 feature on Youtube I can simulate this behavior and let you look around.

The idea of a black hole is honestly terrifying to me. The thought of falling into one gives me chills.

If you were to fall towards a black hole (you would definitely die long before getting close, but if you somehow survived), time and space would get stretched nearly infinitely from your point of view. AKA, the closer you get, time passes faster and faster and everything gets further away. The black hole in front of you would evaporate and the rest of the universe would fast forward through trillions of years. You would never actually reach the singularity inside (just get infinitely close). You would come out at the end of the universe, the end of space and time, where nothing exists anymore.

For an outside observer, you would fall more and more slowly, never quite reaching the event horizon, because remember, time has slowed down almost infinitely for the person falling in. So while the jumper inner sees everything flash by, everyone else just sees your image smeared onto the outside of the event horizon. Forever falling closer and closer, but never falling inside.

Interesting thing, if you were to pass through the event horizon, you literally would not be able to point in the direction of the way out due to the geometry of space being so extremely warped. All directions would only lead further inside, closer to the singularity.

It's almost like it would put you outside of the universe itself.
