History should never be changed to fit modern perspectives.

Saying she was black because she was Egyptian is like saying she was trans because she held the male title of Pharaoh

Cleopatra was white and Greek. Jesus was middle eastern. Ramses had red hair. Queen of Sheba was of African decent. Learned this in grade school. If Cleopatra was a product of inter breeding family members then she is very Greek.

Even if Cleopatra was not of Greek/Macedonian descent, which she was, Blacks living in the West would have no right to claim a connection with her or ancient Egyptian society. Blacks, living in the West, mostly trace their ancestry to West and Central Africa, as a result of the transatlantic slave trade. Egyptians trace their lineage from the North and North Eastern portions of Africa. These regions are genetically, historically, and culturally very different. For Blacks, living in the West, to claim a connection to ancient Egyptians makes about as much sense as Indians laying claim to the cultural accomplishments of the Chinese because they both live in the same Asian continent.

As an Egyptian we all know that she is Mazdonen Greek because we study history in school, but even if she was Egyptian she couldn't be black, Africa is very big and diverse, a lot of people is mixing between Egyptian civilisation and Kushi civilisation which nowadays Sudan and they also have pyramid but in a totally different style, and to all of those who claim that modern day Egyptian are descendants of Arab invasions, you have to know that Arabs are the children of "Ishameal" and he was the first son of "Abraham" from his second wife "Hagar" who's Egyptian, so if you thinks that Egyptian and Arabs from the Arabic peninsula look similar there a reason for that.

Jada should have done a série about the Nubian dynasty. It’s always Cleopatra, she is very interesting but we already know her story while I personally never seen anything about the Nubian rulers of Egypt . Or make a movie about the Empress of Ethiopia, Queen Kandake.

It's not a misconception. It's piss poor education! In the UK and I can only imagine all of Europe. We are taught about her at school and know she is Greek. The netflix documentary is a joke and should be axed.

Being greek myself, i've seen greeks of all shades, some ranging from pale skinned (as some have commented here) to a dark olive brown color. The majority of greeks look ethnic, and have an olive skin tone, some even light brown color, & sometimes often being mistaken for middle eastern. for example, my dad is greek and looks iraqi, my mom is greek and has been mistaken for south italian. i have paler skin, but in the sun i turn bronze and can stay that way for a while. i have cousins who could be mistaken for north indian. So there you have it, cleopatra most likely could have been on any spectrum of pale to dark olive brown due to her greek heritage, but DEFINITELY not black.

Never let an American make a historical documentary if they can’t even tell you when they gained independence and who they gained independence from.

Egypt is located in half the world, the peoples of Afroasia, the peoples of the Mediterranean, North Africa and Asia are located in the Sinai It is strange that Americans and other blacks claim that the ancient Egyptians were black Just because part of Egypt is in North Africa like Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya and North Africa are not black They suffered from racism and wanted the world to respect them, so they stuck themselves in the Egyptian civilization
