AMD is really doing everyone a favor here even supporting competitor cards.
There's no reason for us not to root for AMD for this to be a successful implementation.
Also, basically, any Vega series will work, even the APU's?

the ever lasting GTX 1080ti is gonna last for more years because of this. what a card, lucky who bought it at its msrp back then.

As long as it’s somewhat close to DLSS 2.0 it’ll be a win in my book mainly Bc its supported on many many more Gpus including Gpus that dinosaurs used before the Big Bang

Amazing. Between this, DLSS and Intel's offering, gaming at 4K native is frankly dead in my eyes. Praise the high fps.

Can't wait to see this on APUs. The Steamdeck is going to be able to deliver a good gaming experience on big screens, the stuff of dreams.

What was not mentioned by Tim: from the slides, FSR 2.0 also takes into consideration the z-buffer, whereas DLSS doesn't.

Thanks for the update Tim, AMD make technology open, they are the way to go for the masses.

FSR 2.0 is gonna be big, especially considering the console support, hopefully that leads to widespread as well as quick adoption of the technology by developers 🙏🏼

I'm using FSR on Cyberpunk with my RX 580 4gb, very happy with the performance so far

The fact that it works on console games should almost be an instant win for AMD.
Curious to see how Nvidia reacts to this. My guess is they'll have to market DLSS as a premium feature over FSR because I don't think that FSR will quite reach it. Next there will be some "robust talks" with their closest partner studios and we'll see some PC exclusive titles not implement FSR where DLSS is already present. And they'll push the 8K hype train.

Cool cool, so in theory future settings menus could feature FSR 1, FSR 2, DLSS 2, TSR *and* XeSS, along with basic resolution scaling sliders.
I hope someone somewhere is working on a way to allow users to test these settings out and see which they prefer for themselves, because all this choice without a clear demonstration will only serve to give people a paralysis of choice.

This is exciting as an owner of a 3080 laptop as I sometimes use it on my 4K tv for living room gaming and DLSS and FSR 1.0 already allows for me to run most games at 4K high settings 60fps which at about 10 feet away from my tv, might as well be native. Was playing Gurdians of the Galaxy last night at 4K Ultra with RT set to high and DLSS set to quality and was absolutely blown away by the imagine quality. Upscaling tech is going to change the game.

Really hope my RX580 will be able to run FSR 2.0, that would be sooo great

A game like Elden Ring that basically only scales performance with resolution (the in-game sliders do almost nothing) is an example of where this kind of thing is needed. Hopefully it gets adopted.

Im excited that FSR 2.0 and DLSS 2.3 are so similar in terms of developer integration, it basically eliminates any valid technical reason why a game couldn't support both, it's basically like fried chicken vs spicy fried chicken the process is 90% the same it's just one of them has secret spices in the batter.

I've been using rsr this week and while it has some buggy UI behaviors, especially when running obs in the background, I do find it gives me a good performance bump even on a rx 5500xt 8GB when upscaling from 1600x900 to 1920x1080 and because I'm rendering at a lower resolution, I can max out things like shadows, lighting and texture quality. The biggest benefit in game was Warzone, running above 90 fps with fewer frame dips than native 1080p with medium/high settings. At native 1080p medium textures, the foliage looks like its made of playdoh, whereas with RSR and max texture, shadow and lighting quality, everything looks crisp.

I just searched 'fsr 2.0' and here's your video posted just 4 minutes ago. Pleasant coincidence 👍

G'day Tim,
Thanks for the update as FSR2.0 is looking like it is going to be DLSS for everyone, not just those with big bucks to throw around.
I really like how you do the Feature side of GPUs & they are not included in Steve & Teddy Jr's Benchmarks, it gives you the ability to deepdive into the Image Quality that is associated with using these features not just how many extra FPS/less FPS they may provide when turned on. As someone who plays Adventure Games I am more interested in Image Quality than Max FPS.

I still think Ultra Performance mode would be useful just to see what a 1080p image upscaled would look like. Just to see how it works, and what it's doing.
