NYPD Officer Adopts Dog She Helped Rescue From Hot Car

Concerned citizens in New York City called 911 after seeing a dog had been left in a car with the windows closed one day when the temperatures were hovering over 80 degrees. The NYPD says it’s prohibited to leave animals in cars in such conditions because it can be deadly. Several officers responded to the scene and broke the window to free the dog, who was happy to see them all. One officer took a special liking to the adorable dog. I can’t believe people do this still. When I worked at Six flags a million years ago people would leave their dogs in the cars all day while they went to the park. It cost like 5 bucks to bring them to the park doggy day care. People would be so mad when we rescued their dogs. They were never charged. Temps would be well into the hundreds. It made me so mad 😡
Edit: it was in 2001 but felt like a million years ago 😜

I was at the grocery store a few weeks ago and seen a dog in distress they had the windows barley cracked which doesn’t help anyway. It was 93 outside. I knew I could wait any longer I have a window breaker tool and I did not hesitate I knew it could die waiting for police. After getting the dog out and cooling her off in my A/C and another person gave me a cold water. The owners came out they where mad about the window and then said they no longer wanted the dog. I gladly took her. She was for sure under weight and had bad fleas so took her to the vet and have been getting some meat on her bones. A friend of mine who’s dog passed away a few months ago was ready for a new dog. She is on vacation this week and will be taking her when she gets back. She is the sweetest dog and I am so grateful I was there that day.
