A critical skill that founders and startups need is estimating accurately. But, this is a huge area where most people struggle. Think of all the estimates you need nearly every single day as a founder running a startup:

-When will the next product version be out?
- What do our quarterly and yearly sales forecasts look like?
-How many people should we hire and when?
-How much should we raise?

The list of what you need to estimate is nearly endless. And if you can’t accurately estimate you are going to be way off in so many things.

Always enjoy our collabs with @Slidebean and @Caya. Thx Team Slidebean! I've been using this technique for a long, long time. I hope others find it super helpful. It's really easy to use and simple to remember.

Great method to estimate a project or a task. In my job, very often we discuss about deadlines in projects and it's really hard to estimate well. I think with this technique, things will be easier.

That's very helpful. I always find my self estimating in favor of a client or stakeholder to I guess "sell better numbers" thinking "I can't possibly tell them this takes this long, they're going to leave immediately". But eventually I under estimate and take up a huge risk leaving me very much not confident at all.

Excellent video! Good advice on smallest level. It's often very difficult when prototyping to estimate startup progress over long time periods so I tend to focus on short time periods.

This was a useful video for setting assumptions and managing stakeholders' needs. Reminds me of my learnings from reading "How to Measure Anything" by Douglas Hubbard which talks a lot about how humans tend to underestimate

haha, how can you do the opposite: I explain to my boss thing a is done in 2 weeks if b, c, and d works out and that's not likely and he only hears "it's done in 2 weeks"

sorry

this works with assumption that devs don't straight up answer with "how long is a piece of string?", so asking about 95% confidence is a moot point.

What about the Dunning-Kruger effect? Doesn't it affect people's level of confidence in getting things done?
