As Italian the only unrealistic thing is ordering a bolognese in Sorrento 🤣 but the pronunciation is good! Proud of you!

this is how I feel when every non-Aussie feels the need to pronounce Melbourne like "Mel-bin"

Italians actually call the country ‘Italia’, not ‘Italy’

Damn it Jaxon

Jaxon’s “bolognese” made my Italian heart melt

Watching this as a German is hilarious, since for us exactly this happens with people going to Australia. They will not shut up about it, speak English in a normal conversation and make it their whole personality. We call those people Lisa, since Lisas are always the ones going abroad haha

"Prisencolinensinainciusol" is song by Italian musician Adriano Celentano. Celentano felt that in a need to look cool, Europeans always flocked to any western pop song no matter what the English lyrics meant.

So he and his wife made up English sounding jibberish, made it into a song, then released it. The song became a hit in Europe.

"You don't have to say every Italian word the way Italians say it!"

As an Australian Italian growing up around other Italians, trust me, yes you do 😂

Darcy's acting as the correct pronunciation of "Italy" was stupendous

I like when people go the extra bit of way to learn the correct pronunciation

As a Canadian, I spent a month in Australia, the locals FREQUENTLY corrected my pronunciation of Cairns. They did not like me pronouncing the R... so don't worry, Aussies are part of this problem too! Haha!

His pronunciation is actually really good. Refreshing to hear someone say Bolognese the correct way <3

"But going to Italy made me feel better than everyone!" As someone who went to Italy, came back, and wouldn't shut up about it for weeks this was too relatable

I'm lucky enough to speak Spanish and French as well and I always found it awkward when pronouncing words that are French or Spanish but used in English. Do I pronounce it the way I was taught or do I mispronounce it in English to fit in? Lmfao I swear I switch it up all the time. I never know.

Darcy's acting as the collective Italian locals was outstanding, wouldn't expect to usually see such quality acting outside of a top theatre.

Meanwhile, in my workplace, people get furious if you DON'T suddenly go into another accent for a single word midway through an English sentence.

At this point if anyone says a foreign word correctly it sounds wrong. I speak German and English, but whenever I hear an American pronounce a German word correctly, I'm like—what's wrong with that person? 😅

Loved Darcy's performance as the CollegeHumor video about the guy who overpronounces foreign words

I'm bilingual half Italian half English and this is genuinely a daily struggle of mine. I usually end up just saying the 'foreign' word in the other language's accent to avoid looking like a twat but even that has received comments like, "why are you saying that in an English accent I swear u speak Italian???" at which point I want to annihilate them on the spot.

This is actually my biggest pet peeve. I can't believe there's an entire video on YouTube this specific.
