NJV Bible - New Jerusalem Version by Hineni Publishers

Important note: This bible is also set up in the order of the TaNaKh. That means the Old Testament is in a different order many of us are used to.

If you know me you know I love the Hebrew culture, and it’s importance in understanding our wonderful Savior. Hineni Publishers’ New Jerusalem Version of the Bible is a new adventure for me. What attracted me to it was the commitment to the Hebrew culture. I also love that they keep the Tetragrammaton (YHWH in English) untranslated and leave it in it’s raw Hebrew form. Bonus points if you can find my mistake. Hint: Washing

It’s also really neat that they leave some important terms transliterated rather than translated. This causes the reader to stop, reflect, and put more effort into understanding (there is a glossary provided in the back) as you see unfamiliar words.

The Tetragrammaton is also called the “unutterable name” and is often substituted with Adonai meaning Lord or Hashem the Name. It is to this day uncertain how to say the second syllable of the name. Hineni doesn’t discourage the use of Yahweh or however you elect to say it, but they do caution simply blurting the name out flippantly.

Of course today we celebrate Yeshua (Jesus) as he became the Passover Lamb. I couldn’t find a more fitting bible to promote on a day such as today. It is covered in a very nice brown calf split that has been pressed and stamped to make for a very nice leather cover. It is printed and bound by the legendary Royal Jongbloed with 32gsm PrimaBible paper and boasts a very readable 9pt font in a hand sized (5.9″ x 8.6″ x 1.4″) footprint. Here’s a link below (keep in mind they don’t do business on the sabbath).

I plan to buy it someday when they release a large print version.

I just received my copy of this in brown Imitation Leather. It has embossed menorah and 10 commandments on the cover. It seems to have 1-2 additional lists in the back of the Bible.
All I can say is "I LOVE THIS BIBLE!"
Leaving the Tetragrammaton AND having Yeshua in the new testament is excellent. This is a very good blend for a fuller Jewish/Hebrew experience in the Word of God. I am making this my daily reading Bible. Thanks for the great review Brother Tim. I saw you mention this NJV on the 3 Tim's video. I ordered it that day.✝️📖🙏🤍

I really like seeing these unique bibles you review from a content perspective. Great shift from a quality/build focus to mix it up. As someone who is considering learning Greek and then perhaps Hebrew, these are great to be aware of!

Outstanding review of an Outstanding Bible and translation. Another friend of mine, was one of the first to obtain a copy. I can't wait until I get one. This will make a superb addition to any collection. And, would be a fantastic primary bible for anyone who follows the Jewish and Hebrew culture and traditions. Thanks again, Brother Tim for once more doing a Super Fantastic quick review of a great Bible. 👍

Thanks for reviewing this NJV Bible Tim. I never would have known about it had you not made this video. Mahalo for all you do for the Bible community.

I love mine! I really appreciate that there’s no sacred name or “pagan-roots” push with this translation.
Thanks for doing this review.

Purchased! I love it! Mikveh is the washing and chesed is the "lovingkindness or loyal love" an attribute of God regarding the covenant / election of Israel.

I purchased a copy in blue synthetic cover. It also has a paper paste down liner. I regret it not paying a bit extra for the calf split.

Good review Tim.

I ordered the same Bible you reviewed the day they became available for purchase. I'm the guy who usually complains about the font size and the font on this is small. Thankfully, the text isn't crammed together and I can actually read it. I hope to spend some serious time in it over the next few months to get the full experience.

I did take some time looking through some of the verses that I like to use to compare translations against each other and this version definitely passed the test, at least for me :-).

You should do a follow-up review after you've had more time in it to let us know if you are still impressed with it or if your enthusiasm has waned.

Would a Christian find this Bible useful? I'm going to order two of these. One will be to a friend of mine who has just gotten into reading scripture.

I have a copy of the Holy Scriptures according to the Masoretic text. It's one of my favorites.

I hope they come out with a wide margin. There’s not much space for note taking😢

Hmmm…. That was more like a dime’s worth. 😊. Good video. Thank you for the review, and for introducing me to this translation. Would you happen to know how this compares to The Tree of Life Version? On the surface, it seems to be basically the same—or at least the same basic idea (a comparison could be a good video). Do you know if the translation is more formal or more dynamic? You mentioned it is taken from several translations, some on both sides of that fence. Thanks!

Do you consider this Bible to be very accurate?

Im having trouble with the Hebrew in the NT. Lord is kurios, not YHWH, and is such as a direct challenge to Caesar, and the OT passages in the NT are from the Greek LXX, not Hebrew, so is a bit misleading. Your Thoughts?
