Easy to Build Tube Amp

After my daughter and I made a custom kit guitar we needed an amp for her to use and my little battery powered practice amp wasn’t gonna cut it. Since I’ve always wanted to build a tube amp, but was worried I’d be getting in over my head, there was no better way to jump into that world than by making a 57’ Mini Tweed! It’s a pretty simple project and the amp sounds great!

This video deserves an award. Father and Daughter bond over building a guitar amp.

Very nice, I know it’s not too difficult but the interaction with your daughter is priceless.

This is great. I love to see a dad spending quality time with his daughter. And she’s obviously keen on what you’re doing, very bright and very engaged. God bless good men.

You are such a great father!

Thank you for being so calm and patient with your daughter. This will not only make her feel very secure around you but also pay off in future generations.
What a great guy!

The look on her face at first sound was priceless!. Well done dad.

Nice, a parent teaching their children how to build and troubleshoot. She'll be able to build anything and understanding how it works. Two concepts we fail to teach, you can do anything, and understanding how it works.👍👍👍

Great job and great father. Working on projects with your daughter is golden. She'll remember that for the rest of her life. I have an original 1963 Fender Tweed Champ amp. Have fun.

And unlike everyone else that builds or repairs a guitar, you played music I have heard before. Great job spending priceless time with your daughter. I wish you both all the best.

I thought it was excellent seeing father and daughter build together; Plus a tube amp is always best. She's going to treasure that rig and the memories of making it.

Thank you for making this! Such good father-daughter interaction. Your daughter seems very intelligent and verbally sophisticated and it’s a joy to listen to her commentary. It’s also pretty cool you let her drive the soldering iron. Great way to get a kid to respect a potentially dangerous tool.

I’ve built at least 100 Fender tube amp clones. I try to use real vintage output transformers, power xformers and speakers whenever I can. I’ve been building tube based audio, music and recording gear for 50+ years and have accumulated an enormous stock of vintage parts, tubes etc.
If I can ever give you a hand feel free to reach out.
I enjoyed your video, particularly the way you featured your daughter. My daughter never even attempted to fake an interest in my hobby/business.
Peace,
Rick

Mike, that’s awesome and love when the kids are excited in the workshop. My son does the same thing with holding his ears even when I use low decibel power tools. Anyway, she’s adorable and she seems so excited and the time spent together is priceless.

This is so wholesome, it hits me home because my dad and I built a 50W JCM800 (granted, it’s a different project and we were both knowledgeable in electronics). If you were able to do this however, I strongly advise you to get into DIY pedals, there are a lot of kits for high-end circuits (such as the klon centaur) for really affordable prices.

Wonderful! I have the fondest childhood and adolescent memories doing exactly those kinds of projects with my father (an outstanding engineer and excellent craftsman), and I intend to carry on the tradition of these kinds of projects once I have children.

Great sticky note tip. BTW, the family that solders together, stays together.

Making some great memories with your daughter there! Well done. I was recently building a model plane kit for the first time in decades, and it brought back a flood of wonderful memories of me doing builds with my late dad decades ago!
