This is one of the many videos I watched before attempting my first AR-15 build. Thank you Dave for recommending the H buffer (or H1) for my 16" mid-length barrel, my gun shoots/cycles like a dream. BCM upper, American Defense BCG, 16" Ballistic Advantage .223 Wylde Hanson Profile barrel, VG6 Epsilon compensator.

Would be nice if someone had a chart for different barrel length with the different buffers and spring combinations.
For the difference also in calibers rate of twist annulled weights.

Thank you for explaining how the basic gas system on an AR works. So many of the youtube AR 'experts' have no concept of a locking bolt and what the gas actually does. This should be mandatory viewing for about 98% of the so called AR experts on YouTube,

You are very good at explaining everything in a manner where all of " US Dummies" can understand and comprehend it. As well as the "Newbies" just getting started.I very much appreciate your expertise .Ive learned quite a bit here today...Many Thanx

I would really like to see an in depth video on buffer systems for 9mm ar pistol builds. As for proper weight of buffer for good cycling and spacers to be used to prevent bolt catch shear off (reduced return travel velocity).

Really great video. Very informative even for a short "quick cover" of the topic

I love this, please teach more on buffers and gas systems. I build and want to know about buffer weight-light weight BCG's and variable gas block interactions. Thank you Dave, great video !

The carbine gas system is actually optimized for an 11.5" barrel, as on the Colt 629 carbine. The reason the M4 has a 14.5" barrel is the need for space in front of the gas block to mount a bayonet.

I'd love to see more on buffers, springs, and how they affect the most popular calibers commonly used with the AR platform. Now, THERE'S an encyclopedia's worth of videos. Thanks.
