This week, Ginny and Tom discuss high mileage Teslas, the car that will be giving the accountants at Volvo sleepless nights and wondering - are game fairs the new motor shows? The team also read out the best comments from last week's pod.

And when we do discuss cars, we find out a lot. From industry gossip to the more mundane practicalities of electric car ownership, it’s the place where we dish the dirt on the cars we’ve been driving and deliver our own verdicts on the latest electric car news. We also like to have a good laugh at the daftest bits of anti-electric news that we’ve seen in the press.

We can’t promise that you’ll learn much. You probably won’t. But if you fancy 30 minutes of idle chat and gossip about the world of electric cars, we’re here for you. If you like it / hate it / think it’s too long or too short, let us know.

As a limbless veteran (RAF), I was looking for an my first EV, I watched lots of car reviews from the Electrifying Team and had come down to a choice of 2, either Skoda Enyaq, preferred choice, or Hyundai Kona. Unfortunately, delivery of an Enyaq I was told would be 26 weeks, a Local car dealership (Arnold Clark) could get me a Hyundai Kona within 6 weeks. Thanks to your reviews, I'm now driving an adapted (Hand Controls) Hyundai Kona. I absolutely love this car, and I'm glad that I bit the bullet and went fully electric. Many thanks to the team at Electrifying for doing a great job of informing us all, of the good and not so good points of the current EV lineups. Keep up the good work guys. 💙

Got my first EV last week. This week I’ve learned to use excess solar to car. Between 11am and 3pm I’m getting 10kwh per day. 3rd day of doing this and I’ve gained a half tank of free fuel, that would otherwise have gone to the grid. Renault Megane Etech 60 Techo +.

Pennsylvania resident here --- why am I watching a UK EV channel? Because your whole team is fantastic. Fun, great reviews, world wide coverage too. I can't help but think if the US gets rid of govt intervention (tax credits and mandates) we could have a lot more EV models over here???

Great podcast. I bought my first EV without ever test driving one. It was during Covid and I bought it online from a main dealer and it was delivered to my house. It was a used Jaguar I-Pace which I chose because of the rave reviews. Driving it out of my drive for the first time was scary never having driven an EV before but I loved it within a couple of miles. I traded it in after a couple of years for another used I-Pace, still love it. Also bought a Fiat 500E for my wife so we're now all electric. Would never change back to ICE.
I regularly take the I-Pace to the tip and the hi-vis guys recognise me now, never been moaned at. Also take it to Lidl where we do most of our weekly shop. The reason you see expensive cars at Lidl and Aldi is that people who are money savvy can afford expensive cars!

Renault really needs to make that R17 concept! An immediate purchase from me, in the “Galactic Brown” obviously.

Please Electrifying team, convince them to put it into production!

In 2022 we were waiting for a VW E-up. This kept being delayed... So I called the leasing company and they offered us a Citroen E-C4 as an "in stock deal". Which we took without even driving it or looking at one. The only thing we did was look at your review on YouTube. It has actually been a brilliant and we love it.

I needed to add to your comments about the range on PHEVS, I agree, they need to legislate that it has to cover at least 60 miles on battery only or they can't sell it.
Plus the likes of Nissan, should not be able to refer to their hybrids as EVs or e-Power or any other of the nonsense legacy auto are coming up with. For decades, we had mainline trains that use large diesel engine(s) attached to a generator to power the electric motors that drive the wheels. Intercity 125 etc. These trains were and still are referred to as diesel trains, not hybrids, not a unique electrified experience, diesel trains.

It's brave to be speaking about hydrogen. As much as I am 100% behind electric, if hydrogen can be done at scale with zero emissions, which, in theory, can be done, it should be offered to the public. No matter how little sense it makes, if it brings a market over from fossil fuels, it's a win.

Hydrogen fueling stations were so unreliable here in SoCal. Many relied on local electrolyzers and they couldn't keep up production to match their limited consumers. So people would show up and realize it'd be hours before they were ready to dispense. And then the complex pumps would fail, not unlike DC Fast Chargers. But with hydrogen, you cannot fill at home.

Oh and as for the Capri, I can see that cropping up in a County fair Raffle, or the modern day version of Bullseye, for those "This is what you could have won" moments... :-)

Thank you for answering my question about car leasing. I asked the same question of Auto trader at the same time, and have yet to receive a reply. I’m sorry I rambled on originally, and in future will try to keep it one question at a time, so thanks again.

So, in July I bought my first EV, a used I-Pace - still a gamble because it is still at the dealership getting stuff fixed (came with 2-year main dealer warranty, wouldn’t have bought it otherwise). Bought that because it’s the prettiest way to save money.

After watching this episode I find myself trying to convince my wife to buy an ORA, which I don’t particularly like, just so we can put the Mini in the garage (2nd gen JCW convertible, it’s worth trying to preserve it). The money saved in fuel will literally pay for the lease!

I remember the original Renault 17 and even had a ride in one back in the day.
I loved the styling, it was very 70s and I thought it looked cool.
The underpinnings were Renault 12 I think and that was our family transport back in the 70s.

Thank you for the mention about the EV6 and the bags of soil say soil but it was mainly the pebbles and detritus of 70 years of human habitation coated in a bit of soil after I had sifted it.😂😂

If you want a matt car just buy a 90s red Toyota and don't wash it for a while, their paintwork went dull very quickly. As for VW supplying rubbers...I spilled my tea before you corrected yourself! Great video, always fun.

Ordered my Ora 03 earlier this week! So excited and then suddenly realised I need to get a smart meter to be able to switch to an EV tariff. Hoping To get this sorted ASAP and might need to find some cheeky free/cheap charging options in the meantime.
