Asha ~ Calm after the storm

Показать описание
This cracking song by the beautiful Ilse de Lange was the runner-up in the Eurovision Song Contest! Her duo was called The Common Linnets. I heard the song quite by chance in the Netherlands when I was recording an album. This album is a third volume of cover versions that I've done, and it's called "Sun, Sorrow, Flowers, Moon."
It was played to me on a friday evening, and by saturday tea-time it was in the bag! I loved everything about it... it has a certain numinosity. I liked the chemistry between The Common Linnets, the beauty of Ilse, the song she wrote and even the name The Common Linnets. I especially liked the 'Linnet' part... it's a pretty word that matches Ilse's prettiness.
So I researched 'linnet' in mythology, and this is what I found: a Linnet sipped the blood of the crucified Christ on the cross, by his crown of thorns. And so the Linnet, part of the Finch family, is associated with the resurrected Christ. It was a Linnet who took the first sacrament... the blood of Christ.
Believe, brothers! Believe, sisters!
So even this, a Eurovision runner-up, has a connection to the main thread of my endeavours... music and the spiritual path.
Christ came second in The Eurovision Song Contest, but I liked His song the best!
Calm after the storm... I wish.
