Both of my parents are Republicans. My mom is more intelligent than my dad, but votes R due to brainwashed reasons (mostly religious) I can't argue her out of. When we talk about politics, which is pretty frequently, it always frustrates her that politics isn't about policy and it's all about vibes now. My dad is less intelligent, and the most success I've had dissuading him from potentially radical thoughts is simply shaming him and calling him stupid.
