I've actually stated this as an insane with Nintendo's business structures currently when talking to friends.

Most of their development is completely outsourced in a consistently constricting market.

Bandai is even cancelling their projects and handles most of their current development.

Nintendo in house hasn't made the bulk of their new titles with development getting more complex and expensive.

While everyone is able to secure dev teams under an umbrella like Sony and MS, Nintendo genuinely doesn't have the money the mega corps do. ABK was bought for more than Nintendo is even worth.

If someone buys all their "help" who knows what happens to their pipeline.

Nintendo don't buy companies the way they do in the west because it's not a practised tradition in Japan. Also I'm sure Nintendo can find another developer to make a new Mario and Luigi game for them if they wanted to. I keep seeing these the franchise is doomed and it's so weird, Nintendo lost Rare and in no time had Retro Studios making Donkey Kong games. If it's profitable the franchise is fine, relax.
