Contra: Operation Galuga Review

Contra: Operation Galuga reviewed by Travis Northup on PC, also available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch.

Contra: Operation Galuga met my expectations as a marginally modernized run-and-gun arcade game, but it almost never exceeded them. All eight levels do a solid job of playing to my Contra nostalgia, and small tweaks to combat like the weapon upgrade and overload systems add a couple of much-needed wrinkles to its otherwise extremely faithful formula. But with only a few hours worth of things to do and very few surprises to be found, the rollercoaster comes to a halt too quickly and doesn’t have many drops or loop-de-loops to enjoy along the way.

Reviewer is unprepared. Contra Galuga is utilising nostalgia to bring the franchise back on the map. Most features you see are from the franchise, including the bikes, hanging on ledges (from Sega Contra)

The bike level is from "contra 3" and the slide mechanic is from "hard corp's", they're not new features. As a massive contra fan, it's awesome to see it go back to its roots. Those boss battles look damn amazing
