In Finland We Have This Thing Called...Juhannus

After realising yesterday that we forgot to write and shoot an episode for midsummer “Juhannus” we had to improvise and head on outside for a nearly impromptu shoot.

We definitely did not want to miss out on the opportunity to tell you about the most longed after holiday of the year…

Actually, even considering the tricky soundscape, this one turned out pretty good, wouldn’t you say?

Nuff said, the bonfires need to be gathered, so we are out for today!

in Denmark we have something simular - its just called skt hans where we make bonfires. With witches :D

Yes, John is in Finnish Johannes (amongst a dozen or so other names - incluaing juhannus: just that's only reserved for the festival, the holiday.
Johannes is almost exactly the same name as the Old Greek original . Jòhànnes. There the o was long, and the a stressed, but short, .
Whereas in Finnish the Jo- is stressed (the beginning always is, except some loaned names) and short; the double nn is said long, like in a 'thiN Needle'.
