Adam Page is the perfect babyface for this generation. He's isn't larger than life, he's just a regular man with imperfections. He's relatable because the his story is realistic. His was given a chance at the title and failed, he had a second chance and lost it. Each time he wanted to give up, he wanted to quit, but he found a way to persevere. His character arc is inspiring, and he is proof of why wins & losses should matter in pro wrestling, especially when it helps progress a story.

As someone who doesn’t get much of an opportunity to watch AEW very often but still considers themselves a fan, I need a lot of this content! Great work that gives me a awesome history lesson so I can understand every character, every storyline and everything that’s going on at present. It really helps people like me out who have only year gotten into AEW this year and have previously not seen a lot of wrestling in recent years

This story isn't a story at all, he was the guy getting pinned in 8 man tags who was always looking up and he did feel lesser thsn everyone else.

Hangman's first opponent is Danielson, who turned heel to ensure fans don't cheer him over the champion. Even with all those years of storytelling, someone being more popular than you can always derail plans. Imagine if another wrestler rose thru the ranks & became the fan favorite more over than Page, necessitating a change in plans that pushes him aside. Would AEW turn him heel like Batista did years ago? Would things be drastically different today, or would Page even be champion? I love thinking about this stuff.

I think the story of Hangman resembles the story of AEW as a whole very well. Start of extremely strong (almost winning the title/ great ratings), hit some major bumps in the road (confidence, drinking/covid, no crowds), and finally climb back up the mountain and reach the peak (world title win, beating raw in the ratings). Pretty freaking awesome.

There’s one great little detail about the Bucks coming out to the ring at FG 2021. They originally didn’t want to be in Hangman’s corner in 2019, thinking they’d be too busy recovering from their match.

Fast forward to Page vs Omega, and even though the Bucks just went through a Falls Count Anywhere war, and have to limp and lean on each other down the ramp, they still make it out to give their nod of approval to Hangman. That is a great bookend.

Wonderfully stated tempest, I’ve been following BTE from the beginning and the story bits(roh, njpw, etc.)that play out between the elite are fantastic and engaging. I’ve wondered for years when the hangman would break out and be his own man. I hope he gets a decent reign as champion, he F’N earned it.

Brilliant video, thanks Tempest! Hangman's story is perfect, because it's not one-dimentional, it has layers and nuances. What's more important, Page had to evolve and change during his path to gold. The losses and his internal struggles did affect his character, but in the end with the help of his new friends he finally got the confidence to overcome himself and overcome the odds in front of him. He finally realised what he had to do to win the big one, and when the time was right he did it. This is arguably the most compelling story in pro-wrestling in years. And this heroes journey arc made Hangman Adam Page the perfect babyface. What a great time to be a wrestling fan.
