I’ve been using Transitions Photochromic Visors for TEN YEARS just to make THIS VIDEO!

NOTE:
The visor darkens in "seconds" but takes about 5 minutes or go completely clear again. I didn't realize this until after recording the voiceover.

Foam doesn't contain oil, it's the salt & oils from sweat that eventually break down foam padding. The Styrofoam crash protection takes a whole lot longer to break down unless exposed to chemicals, (detergents) UV light or being dropped.
That said if Shoei still offers complete internal padding replacement in a few years I'd consider it for the price one pays for these top shelf lids. Might add a couple more seasons provided the rest is in good shape. Chances are though like every manufacturer they'll change the design & clear out old inventory so instead just throw money at it, always works for me too.
BTW I've been looking at the RF 1400 for years, supposed to be one of the quietest, reliable buckets there is. And if one's stupid enough & immune to pain to the point of damaging their own ear cartilage by putting on & taking off a helmet, cauliflower ear is the least of their problems. I think it's an exaggeration

Thanks for the review, very cool insights! One thing I am wondering about. How fast does it brighten up? Entering a dark tunnel from a bright road, will the visor brighten fast enough?

Does your ten year photochromic visor not degrade after a few year?
