As an American I have never had any Canadian chips before. Today I am very excited to try several types of Canadian chips for the first time including Ketchup Chips, All Dressed Chips, Hickory Sticks, and Cheezies. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

I love when people think ketchup chips are weird, but have no problem putting ketchup on French fries lol

For clarification, the all dressed chips are supposed to be a mix between ketchup, barbecue sauce, sour cream and onion and salt & vinegar.

There is a Canadian connection between Canada and Ketchup. The Southern part of Ontario from South of London, down to Windsor is known for their tomato crops. ITs one of the primary industry. For decades they were a major supplier of tomatoes for Heinz Ketchup. So there is a strong regional identity to tomatoes and ketchup in that part of Ontario. A number of years ago, when Heinz decided to stop buying Ontario tomatoes, it almost devastated the Ontario economy and led to boycotts across Canada of Heinz products. Eventually French's ( a major mustard producer) stepped in and stated that they would start manufacturing Ketchup using only the tomatoes from Ontario for their Ketchup. It was a huge hit and supplanted Heinz ketchup as the #1 choice. Personally I prefer the taste of French's Ketchup it doesn't taste of the high fructose corn syrup, it tastes more of tomatoes and just tastes like a higher end Ketchup that is significantly cheaper than Heinz. So that does answer your question about Ketchup being a Canadian thing.

Hi, Canadian here.

Ruffles Canada describes the all dressed chip as a mix of ketchup, barbecue sauce, sour cream and onion, and salt & vinegar chips. Basically all of the flavours they make, rolled into one.

Hence, "all dressed". Best chip in my opinion

An interesting bit of history is that both Cheezies and Cheetos were invented very closely together (time wise) but Cheezies ended up not being sold in the U.S. because the border agency classified them as a "Cheese product" and thus dairy taxes applied. We're happy to keep them though, Cheetos don't even come close.

The only downside of Hickory sticks, is that eventually you'll start gobbling them down and end up STABBING YOURSELF IN THE GUMS!😂😂 Hurts like a you know what! Glad you enjoyed those, Tyler

Honestly Tyler, if you really think about it, Ketchup chips make sense. You put ketchup on fries and some ppl put ketchup on potatoes in general and what are chips but potatoes, with ketchup on them. Glad you liked them and yes, All Dressed chips can be an acquired taste but once you get used to the flavour, they are quite addictive lol.

As a Canadian and LOVER of Ketchup chips it's always so hilarious to me that most Americans first reaction is to laugh at it but then their reaction after tasting it is also to laugh because they can't believe it works lmao never gets old.

There's a popular canadian comedy show called Letterkenny, and one of the most quotable lines from the show comes from a scene when they are traveling to Buffalo, and it goes....

"Why would I got to Buffalo?, they don't even have All Dressed chips in that shit hole!"

Lmao.

I like to describe the All Dressed flavour as the Dr. Pepper of chips: it's a bunch of different flavourings mixed together to make a new distinct taste

The thing about Hickory sticks is that they last forever because you can eat pinches of sticks, which would amount to a 1/4 of a chip at a time per pinch, so it makes really good movie theater snack, a bag can last longer than a bag of chips equally sized

Glad you enjoyed our snacks. Give the All Dressed a chance... it'll grow on you. They're basically salt & vinegar, barbeque, and sour cream & onion, all together. It's my favourite chip flavour out of them all. Cheers from 🇨🇦.

All dressed are amazing. They're like a mild bbq, a little onion, with a definite salt and vinegar taste but not as difficult to eat as salt and vinegar. You can easily polish off a bag in a few minutes they are that good.

As an American, I thought "Ketchup Potato Chips" made perfect sense from the first time I heard about it. I mean I've been eating fried potatoes with ketchup (albeit in the form of fries or tots instead of chips) since I was a kid.

As a Canadian, I find your sense of humor hilarious. This type of witty innocent video is one of the big things missing from Youtube these days. I am now a subscriber. If you visit Canada, look me up. I live in the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife. You'd love us.
