I have heard Rebecca say she doesn't feel her guitar chops are up to snuff which is ridiculous, she is a fantastic musician. That being said, I think her issue was transitioning from Mandolin to Guitar. The mandolin with its tight string spacing and narrow nut/bridge her pick hand had to be more precise and rigid with economic movement. The tightness of the strings on the mandolin demanded more of a staccato style vs legato. Now that she is playing more guitar she has had to loosen up her pick hand and develop more "feel" in her playing and be less rigid/stiff. In this video you can really see it in her pick hand, she has relaxed and her feel is coming out. Add Megan on slide and the duo is world class.

Truthfully, anything they do with a band that I've seen can't hold a candle to these direct, straight forward, no fills acoustic covers. They remind me a great deal of fretkillr from years ago. Great, unadorned arrangements and flawless delivery of timeless classics. What's not to love?

They must have posted 2 hours of these. I'm a guitar tutor near Wellington, New Zealand. Several of my private students are female. Everytime LP posts a YT video I send out a mass text to all of them. LP has small, but loyal fan base here. One of them has gotten a dobro and is learning how to play it. I'm a functional slide player and we've gotten into the basics and she LOVES it.

Now they've pretty much devoured all of the Lovell Sisters/Larkin Poe material they can find on YT. Gone to their website. As a result my female student are outstripping the males in terms of development. They see someone like them being badazz and they want to be like them. So, thank you ladies. When you come down under make sure you book a date in Wellington. The girls are waiting to see you in person.

There are several mentions of "slide guitar" in the comments but what Ms Lovell is playing (and very skillfully) is a Lap Steel Guitar which is quite different both in the instrument itself and the technique of playing.

You can hear the southern soul that Bobby Whitlock brought to the Domino’s in Rebecca and Megan’s version of this classic. It is a feeling that can’t be faked. Based upon that feeling, is why I believe this version tugged at so many heartstrings!
