Travel with us to Oman! | Dubai to Khasab and the Musandam Peninsula Plus the Ghost Village

These are our moments traveling as a family of four on a round-the-world trip, moving west across Asia to the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

We flew into Dubai, which would serve as our home base for visiting the Gulf. This video is our trip to Khasab, Oman in the gorgeous Musandam Peninsula -- which some called the Norway of Arabia for its prominent mountains and fjords. You can travel here by bus, organized tour, or rental car (our preferred option).

Here are some ideas for a daytrip or weekend to this part of Oman:
(1) Rent a car and roadtrip along the winding, gorgeous mountain roads
(2) Stop and play in the sand dunes
(3) Swim in the beautiful turquoise waters
(4) Tour the historic town of Khasab on the tip of the Musandam Peninsula
(5) See the area by water in a traditional dhow boat tour (available in Khasab), which is almost certain to have dolphin sightings
(6) Eat Omani food at the many quaint, traditional eateries you will pass
(9) Enjoy the sunset
(8) Find a camping spot and stay overnight
(9) Visit other emirates en route from Dubai or Abu Dhabi, including Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah
(10) Stop for some "dark tourism" in the reportedly haunted, abandoned seaside town near Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah

Hi, great stuff! Just a quick question.

Do UAE residents need to purchase additional Omani vehicle insurance if traveling in their private cars? If so, is it available at the border? How much does it cost ?

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work 👏
