Breaking up with her boyfriend at Pizza Hut is the most accurate to the reality of being a teen that Skipper has ever been

"Skipper and Barbie literally can't escape each other." Speaking as the younger of two sisters, VERY REALISTIC. Also, I always assumed Ricky was Alan's little brother because they looked so much alike.

5:06 The fact that Tutti is known for melting other dolls when she comes into contact with them really adds to her demonic appearance 😭

Growing Up Skipper's long skirt just reflects the prairie, crunchy granola aesthetic that was incredibly popular in 1970s' fashion. Granny dresses and skirts were totally the thing.

finding out that she wasn't used much in the 2000s makes a lot of sense to me now! i grew up in the early 2000s and didn't know about skipper until much later. i had a million barbies but no skippers. i remember asking about her and my mom being surprised like, "that's her sister!" my mom grew up in the 80s. it's interesting how so many generations have different experiences with barbie

I would love more history on the other siblings! Stacie, Kelly (Chelsea?!), Tommy. So happy to learn about Tutti + Todd from this vid 😂

I always thought 80s/early 90s Skipper reminded me of DJ Tanner from Full House. In fact, I might have pretended she was, and Stacie and Kelly were Stephanie and Michelle Tanner 😅

I’ve never been into actual Barbie dolls (I’m a Bratz girlie) but hearing the history and lore is way too interesting. Skipper was my favorite as kid.

We finally meet the parents in Dreamhouse Adventures. I wish they would make them into dolls.

I got the growing up Skipper doll for Christmas. It was the adults that passed it around and laughed at it the most. Also the last Barbie I ever got, as I was soon deemed "too old" to play with Barbies. I had to give my collection, my case that turned into a house, and of course, all the clothes to my cousins. Needless to say I was not happy.

I had the 90s mermaid Skipper doll and she was so cute! Her face mold and crimped, voluminous hair will always be iconic for me. What I also loved about her was her body type, it wasn't as skinny as Barbies at the time.

I am a Skipper collector, and I agree that the 1982 Skipper is the ugliest and does look like Sid!!! The reason Growing Up Skipper had a long maxi skirt for the more mature “teen” version is because that’s what was in style at that time! Great presentation, and thanks for this video!

Ricky wearing all of Alan's hand-me-downs. Lol

Matching outfits for girls were extremely common in the 1960's and 1970's. Nightgowns, sweater sets, and occasionally dresses. Boys got matching sweaters.

I think teen fun skipper looks like an older version of Kelly, which I kind of like, cause then you could turn her into an older Kelly.

Thank you for mentioning Stacy and Todd. Honestly, I loved Todd. I was really happy to see him and the idea of him being a boy in this family full of sisters. I wish they had kept him around. Justice for Todd. I kind of really hope at some point you’ll do a Stacy and Todd video now.

I loved collecting Skipper dolls. My mom had the growing up skipper when she was younger, it's her favorite.

I never had a Skipper, but sometimes my Stacie also played a younger version of Barbie 😁

I also agree that I don't think there's anything weird about Growing Up Skipper - kids grow up and puberty happens, so talking about that should absolutely be normalised.

Malibu Skipper: Sunscreen / Where are the parents?

Growing up in the 80's and 90's, well past the 70's, I don't think I remember sunscreen being used much at all. It was always that coconut scented tanning oil. Then you'd get yourself coated in aloe gel. For Gen-X and Xennials, the parents were often nowhere to be found. Safety be damned. You know, "Bye mom, I'm going with 5 girls I've never met before to play Barbies behind some random abandoned steel mill." And your mom just reply "Okay dear, come home before the street lights come on".

I grew up in Mexico in the late 90s / early 2000s, and I don’t recall ever hearing about Skipper. The younger sister of Barbie was Kelly, who was adorable, I had one, but with all the recent Barbie hype, I haven’t heard anyone talk about her, she wasn’t even mentioned in the movie. It would be great if you could make a video about Kelly, or if there is not enough info about her, maybe a reel?
Either way, your videos are awesome! So entertaining and informative 🫶🏻
