Considering that they have 3D modeling and 3D printing at their disposal, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the final end product of the face and body sculpts Mattel has been creating over the last few years. The celebrity portrait sculpts should be a lot better than they are, for one thing. The Margot Robbie and Laverne Cox dolls just don't look like the women they're supposed to depict, though I think some of that is the fault of the paint design and application. I love Barbie and always have, but the current era of innovation isn't that compelling in my opinion.

I have hundreds of Barbie dolls, new in box from 1987 to the current day. Color Reveal dolls are not in my collection. The whole water dunking thing is a real, messy turn-off.

No shade to the engineer, but like with Animation, „CGI“ people overtake a kind of artistic job and this is reflected in very basic, generic and uncreative visuals - here modern Barbie dolls. Everything looks smooth and fine, but an edge, a really good idea is always missing.

I wonder what would ruth be reacting to the molded on clothes and all the cheap stuff that has been happening to barbie nowadays

Lmao the hesitation when he asked about how the idea came about with the color change dolls, girl we all know it was from MGA LOL DOLLS 💀

The new Barbies are so lame. The 80s and 90s dolls were so gorgeous and high quality.

3D printing. No wonder their faces look odd.

Imagine such big corp like mattel not being able to make a true articulated doll like the Play Arts Kai figures and still want so much money in return without delivering good products

Color reveal is the worst type of Barbie. I can't believe that they are still going with it.

So they are the masterminds behind tarnishing the beloved brand and lowering the quality to dirt...thanks!

This is kinda disappointing, I wish there was more on how barbie is actually mass produced, how do the molds work, the hair rooting machine etc, the dolls are clearly not each 3d printed, that's just the prototype if anything.

0:42 What? No, they weren’t just inspired by their daughter Barbara playing with paper dolls?!! Barbie is heavily inspired by german „Bild Lilli“. Don’t act like y’all invented this yourself
