Honestly, while I can get the hate behind Hatred (lol), I still appreciate the game for just going full-on with what it wanted to do, AND for being one of the first games to get the Adults Only rating (which prior to digital distribution pretty much meant you couldn't sell you game at any major retailer) and get a wide distribution through Steam.
I was hoping it would have paved the way for more games to just go all out with an idea and buck censorship, but sadly, it mostly seems to have opened the door for pron games. :'(

See postal 4 is basically just a remake, but a remake that fits into the lore and has its own town with its own story. I do have to say it's sad that they didn't use the same VA but it's a really good game even when it was still in "super janky alpha v1".
