I can give you pointers to increase your chances of getting hired to do photos for local businesses!

I run a one person media company they focuses on helping local businesses thrive. The approach the YouTuber scammer suggested and what you tried doesn't work. From my own personal experiences, this is how you get hired:

1. Have a portfolio website and decently professional gear. No one is going to hire you if you walk in with your phone. You don'teven need the most expensive camera gear, rather, you need to have decent gear and expertise with lighting. Lighting is what makes things look professiona.
The portfolio website is so people can watch and see examples of the work so they know what they're going to get is going to look good.
2. Walking into businesses cold and trying to solicit work isn't going to work well because often times it's going to be the employee at the business rather than the business owner who would need the services and they've probably been told whenever somebody comes in trying to sell stuff or to solicit to just tell them no. What you need to do instead is instead of focusing on a selling point of trying to take photos for the Google page, you need to find local businesses who are posting a lot of social media content.
They need help making the content and posting it every single day, especially video work that looks good. That'll entice people to come to the business. They're actively posting on social media so that tells you that they'll actively need help. DM the local businesses, and the reason why this works is because the person who has the keys to the social media account is usually the owner, tell them you want to come in and do one free video and send them a link to your portfolio. For every 20 to 40 businesses you reach out to, you'll probably get three to five responses and maybe one customer. The free offer is going to entice them to hire you because there's very little risk for them and then you get to meet them and start a relationshipwith them, create some great work and then give it to them for free and if it drives results then they're definitely going to call you back. Anybody nowadays can do photos with their phones, but not anybody can do video editing and good video work with good lighting, and that's the stuff that'll impress people and your clients and their customers too.

If you really want to make the walk into the business thing work, you got to dress up nicer like wearing a button-up t-shirt and nice shoes, and walk in with your mirrorless camera ready to go. I'm not commenting at all about your looks or clothes style, which I think is awesome, but perception is everything. When they see that you're looking tidy and wearing nicer clothes and have the pro camera in your hand, they'll take the offer more seriously. Samw with your pitch. It yas to be totally focused on the value you're going to give them, so that's why doing five photos for free works great and then they get to see your quality.

By the way, I discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and have watched all of your videos! Really love what you're doing, keep doing it and show the world that these guys sitting and doing talking head videos are just making money from selling information rather than actually doing what they're taking about. 😁

The lawn maintenance side hustle definitely works better in the U.S. where there are neighborhoods with big lawns. People are generally more willing to pay a neighborhood teen to take care of their lawn consistently rather than a landscaping company.

Your sales pitch needs to get better. Never start with “sorry to bother you” that’s a negative and weak. You need to be more confident, slower & say something like this “I was in the area and I help businesses like you get more sales by taking professional pictures for google, tripadvisor and other digital platforms to increase customer flow”
