In this mother of all competition series, a dozen of the country's most talented kid dancers compete in weekly dance challenges. Twelve kids and their moms will move into a mansion and the kids will perform a new routine each week while the moms manage and oversee them. Will the moms get in the way of their child's success and cost them the chance of winning? Each week, someone is eliminated, narrowing down the field to see who will become the top dancer. The winner will receive a cash prize of $100,000 and a scholarship for full tuition to The Joffrey Ballet School. Dance Mom instructor Abby Lee Miller serves as one of the judges.

Dance Moms follows children's early steps on the road to stardom along with their doting mothers all under Abby Lee Miller's discerning eyes. Presenting a powerful cast of characters, the show immerses itself in the highs and lows surrounding dance competition season, delivering a captivating and dramatic look at the cast's intense pursuit of National Dance titles. I like how Kristi is building her daughter’s confidence : she gives her advice and defends her but she doesn’t speak for her and lets her make her decisions such as the dance she wants to perform. This is the confidence that helped Asia stay in the competition and not crumble under the other parents and kids’ criticism.

asia ate the improv up. all of the other girls did just technical movements: turn, leg, reach, leap. asia actually did choreograpy that looked like something a choreographer would come up with for a routine.

the mothers are kinda obnoxious to be honest because they always try to discredit asia and say abby only likes her for her face, it is kinda right but she is a really good dancer and has great flexibility skills unlike some of the other dancers on this show

Sometimes experience and technique isn't what folks want to see. Personally I'd rather watch someone interesting, entertaining and dynamic than the same boring lyrical dancers.
