What to do if you’re in this situation: put your vehicle in NEUTRAL, then BRAKE hard without lifting foot off brake. do not pump brake over and over. Neutral + one hard brake will help you stop without tragedy.

This happened years ago to my boyfriend (we are still together, almost 15 yrs now) and I remember him calling me telling me goodbye that he will most likely crash because he could not slow down while he was slamming on the breaks. I was at the hospital with my dad at the time. Somehow with the grace of God he ended up making it home while pulling the emergency break as he pulled into the driveway! I guess the sound was horrific as the emergency break was screeching the medal as the car eventually stopped alerting the neighbors to come outside. One of the neighbors had the nerve to scold him and asked why he didn’t try “harder” to stop the car sooner while putting others in danger. No one was hurt during this event. I still can’t believe that happened to him! Probably the scariest and helpless phone call I ever got.

This actually happened to me back in 2004. I bought 1996 Delta 88. A few months after i bought it the gas pedal got stuck while i was on the freeway in pouring rain. I had no idea what to do. Was literally TERRIFIED. Seeing that i was approaching heavy traffic i purpously slammed the car into the center median and prayed. Thankfully the car spun without hitting any other cars and i survived.

Put it in neutral! Applying the “emergency brake!” Then sue the dealership for everything you can.

What's scary is that people apparently don't know you can just shift into neutral or turn the key. The car will blow out its motor in neutral maybe sure, but better than just speeding down the highway.

My dad and I are on the road, similar to this the gas pedal got stuck as well, the good thing is it's a manual. And it saved both out lives

Put it in neutral and cut the power. Do not turn the wheel until you drop to about 45 which should be pretty quick, and carefully move to the shoulder. Had my accelerator get stuck once, friggin terrifying.

For those curious and not wanting to click the next video: The driver essentially decides to swerve into a ravine before the intersection to avoid hitting the stopped cars. Sadly all 4 passengers died upon impact. RIP

I had a stuck accelerator, too. Like others are saying, throw it in neutral then steer to side of road. The engine probly won't blow due to Rev limiter. You won't die if you don't panic.
