G.H.O.S.T - Before Dust

G.H.O.S.T - 41:39 Deeper EP

One of my personal favorite Drum and Bass albums I have owned and my first proper exposure to the genre.

G.H.O.S.T have been on the seen as a group for a long time with their first released track "FANTOM" on the compilation ablum " The Original Techno Mix" on the label M10 back in 1999.

However, the group didn't truly come into existence until they formed Goldman Records in 2014 as a label to release their EPs. Since formed they had released 9 Albums and singles.

41:39 Deeper in my opinion was G.H.O.S.T's best entry into the dnb sound. With dark simmering patterns, crushing bass lines, hair rasing vocals, dream-like reverb and hard snappy drum samples, it was a true statement on what dark dnb should sound like in the modern dnb era. I have since not been able to find a sound quite like this album.

Unfortunately for us this was G.H.O.S.T's last entry into an incredible genre, and what a magnum opus we got!

I got in touch with G.H.O.S.T's Instagram page and asked them why they pulled all their tracks from Spotify and other streaming services.

They told me this " Hey yeah we closed the label and all the digital content from online - Time/commitments take over so we didn't have time to do the label or music any more"

G.H.O.S.T was one for the stand out unique sounds of an ever stagnating, soulless industry where much of the music permeates the genre like a virus. I'll always show people G.H.O.S.T alongside Konflict, Source Direct and Photek alike.
