We visited Ecuador once before but quickly realized there was so much more to be discovered in this beautifully diverse South American country. From adventuring through the cloud forests and discovering tiny glass frogs at Mashpi Lodge, to exploring historic Hacienda Zuleta nestled in the Avenue of Volcanoes among ancient ceremonial pyramids, hiking through the rugged landscape of Cuenca dotted with wild alpacas and horses roaming the plains, and participating in an enchanting Shamanic blessing with the Saraguro people in Loja, we feel like we truly have a more complete understanding of this incredible country after this trip.

WHO ARE WE, YOU ASK?
Well, thanks for asking. We are Georg, Tara, Liv and Bodhi, a German-American family living in Colorado in the United States. We're on a quest to travel to and report back from every country on this bright blue dot we call home. The word "Fernweh" in our channel name is German and translates to "the ache for distant places".

I'M IN ECUADOR RIGHT NOW!!! But I'm leaving in 2 days. 😭😭😭
My trip has been amazing, at the top of my list. I flew into Guayaquil then went to the Galapagos Islands for a few days. Then flew to Quito and went to Papallacta where they had hit springs. After that we flew to Coca city and took a boat to the Amazon Basin. The Ecuador Amazon is by far my favorite part of the trip! We looked for anacondas, went piranha fishing (we let them go), and walked across these canapoy bridges where we were way above the rest of the trees and saw A BUNCH of bird species. Also met some of the natives and they showed us how they survived, which was so amazing and impressive. We left the Amazon this morning and just got into Quito again. Tomorrow we are visiting the rose plantation and then it's bye bye the next day. I DON'T WANNA GO HOME! 😭😭😭😭😭

This is so beautiful and your children are so blessed to get to see the World as naturally as it is. I lived 68 years in the U.S. and retired to Ecuador ten years ago. There is no place I love more. And the people are the nicest people in the World and still believe that respect comes first, then Family and the Earth. Volcan Cuicocha is my back yard and Plaza de Ponchos is my happy place, as it makes you smile with all the colors. Standing on top of any of the many pyramids takes you into the past. You have done a fantastic job of showing my beautiful country and there is so much more to see. Muchas Gracias!
