Yup, us space enthusiasts have anticipated this years ago. I remember telling concerned amateur astronomers that yes the night sky might become crowded but that in the future they might be able to crowd source a space telescope, just because the cost to orbit would be so much lower. Their face, lol! Eyes blinking just at the mere thought of operating a space telescope free of weather concerns. Many professional astronomers still don't grasp this, unable to see forward. These Nasa conferences should be able to change scientists short-sightedness.

SpaceX just went to V2 of Starship - an even larger Starship!

The debate has always been "do we go to the Moon?" "How about an O'Neille Colony over a Moon or Mars colony?" Now, with Starship(and Blue Origins), those questions need a rethink. We can do all three! Not only that, but SpaceX/Blue Origins allows Astronomers to move their observatories to outer space - both space stations out in L2 for instance, and the dark side of the Moon.

Sigh. So now we've gone from every episode being SHOCKING to mind-blowing. In early PC days software coding was optimized because storage space was so expensive. (Steve Gibson of GRC is very well known for his tight coding.) As costs went down, software became more bloated. Older code is not removed and new coding is not optimized. As it gets cheaper to send larger and larger (or more and more) objects into space, are we going to see the same sort of bloat?
