The original microKorg was my first synthesizer, a birthday gift in the summer of 2003. It still works and sounds great, and at this point is very nearly old enough to buy me a drink. I'm hopeful that this next evolution sounds just as good and provides just as much value for this moment in time as the original did.

The microKorg was the very first synthesizer I've ever owned. Given to me as a birthday gift back in 2006 when I was 14. Seems like many others came into it in a similar way. Good memories going through the presets and manual, slowly teaching myself the basics and trying to mindlessly recreate songs I liked. One day when I have kids, I'll for sure be getting them one. Seems like it's been an almost universal intro to synthesis for many.

I bought the OG MicroKORG in 2003 in the first year of university. As a broke student, the £399 price tag was a ridiculously frivolous purchase at the time (from Turnkey Music - who remembers them?!) and people still tease me now about spending all the money I had on a synth. Sadly it perished in 2006, in my final year, thanks to a drunk guitar player using it as a table for their beer - with inevitable results. I loved that thing and couldn't afford to replace it. I made my first ever EP using this synth for pretty much everything aside from drums. A true classic, along with big brother the MS2000. It's very dated now but still has a very capable sound engine. They'll sell truckloads of this new one.

I remember buying the old one for 230 bucks about ten years ago and I still use it today. I can't wait to see how it's been updated.

Ticking all the boxes. Korg wins NAMM 2024.

What made the old one so great was the price point vs the capability. If you're willing to do some menu diving, you can get some amazing sounds at a great price. I hope the new one continues to fill that first synth niche in the market. The world needs that !

Lets hope the price is micro aswell, and not like $699

Looking forward to watching endless demos of this, only to realize I won't be able to afford it.

I loved the Microkorg, had ome for years. But instead of a screen i'd much rather have more hands-on control.

The latest edition of the OG hipster synth!

Sort of a weird product, in the golden age of synthesizers... Where it's possible to get all kinds of great sounding synths, at very reasonable prices....And covered in

The OG Microkorg is a damned good synth. I've had a few over the years but recently got the Microkorg S with the speaker and extra program memory used for a great deal. You can never go wrong with one of these little guys. I look forward to seeing more info about this.

Cool, but it would be nice to have an update to the "MicroKORG SOUND EDITOR" that hasn't been updated since November, 2016

Looks pretty awesome. You're fixed most of the weaknesses of the original MicroKorg, and pretty much all of the MicroKorg XL.
3 questions though.
1: The specs doesn't say which engine it's using, whether it's the original just with more polyphony, MMT from the MK XL, XMT like the KingKorg, or a new one?
2: Why not keep the XLR mic input and gooseneck mic of the MK XL? - it was one of the true upgrades it brought. This is a step back.
3: Are you gonna kill its appeal by pricing it double, like all the recent kit in the category?

P.S. Could we have a re-issue/reboot/updated Kaoss Pad Quad - without the double price - please?
