In 2020, shortly after DJI's civilian drone DJI Mavic Air 2 was released, Fomalhaut Techno Solutions, a Japanese technology lab that loves and specializes in disassembly, together with the Japanese publication Nikkei Asian Review, disassembled this new model of machine. They revealed that, except for the chips driving the rotor blades and paddles, which are proprietary to DJI, the chips responsible for the core battery, radio signal and noise cancellation are from Texas Instruments and Qorvo respectively, both of which are among the leading semiconductor giants in the US.

Since the US stopped selling the common chips used in drones, Chinese domestic companies started supply them. Chian bought $300B chips from the US a few years ago, now it is half since the US stopped providing them. They are like rice. If other nation does not provide it, just grow them domestically. No big deal.

Good to know about the state of the drone industry. Hard to know here in US with political mis info coming out.

Who would have known that a hobby has become a leading weapon of war. It is looking like future conflicts will be fought with drones as the Ukraine conflict is a test bed of sorts for drones

Jai Hinduja. Out of NS non-availablity, it is safer for DJI to use either domestic China chips or Indian origin chips.
