Tinned food, do we love it or hate it? Or do we simply just not appreciate its full potential?

In this episode, our Chef, Ben, whips up a few tinned treats (and a couple of curveballs) for our normals, Jamie and Mike to see if they’re prepared to give the canned cuisine the attention it deserves.

A few of the specific products can be found here:-

Idea for a battle: every normal has to pick 3-4 cans of food (of course not knowing what it is) and than try to cook to impress!

I’d love to see a chef vs. chef battle, where they have to cook the same dish but with one using tinned ingredients (besides seasonings) and the other using fresh ingredients and then the normals do a blind taste test.

Now I want a vlog of Ben just buying international canned food, researching what it is and what dishes it can be cooked into and the guys tasting it.

As a Jamaican, it warmed my heart to see Ackee prepared well. Hope you will enjoy more of it.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Banana Blossom when you were talking about the Ackee. My first experience with Banana Blossom was when I saw it in the supermarket and was feeling adventurous. So I grabbed it, diced it up and put it in a stirfry (we're chinese).

It was absolutely god-awful horrible. Like we couldn't even swallow. Turns out, we didn't get rid of something on the inside that was extremely bitter and inedible. But we didn't know that. But then you guys did the Vegan Fish and Chips thing, and this time we made a point to buy the canned, ready to cook version. This time, I trust the canning company to have taken out the inedible parts so I don't end up licking satan's asshole again.

Just chilling along listening to the intro and Mike's narration:

James: BEN IT'S NOT WORTH IT

Jamies plan of wandering into grocery stores and buying unknown ingredients to cook with: it's solid and I would happily watch a whole series.

Pass it on idea: Use canned ingredients only. Order: smallest to biggest Ear 👂 size.

I'd love to see Jamie's idea, where folks just go into a supermarket and pick a food they don't recognize and make a dish with it.

You MUST have ripe (yellow) jackfruit! Either canned or fresh; it's found in lots of Asian markets in the UK, and it's wonderful plain or in desserts!

So I'm Jamaican and i was very happy to see u guys showcase two if Jamaica's favorite foods in this episode as for how they where used I understand that it's from a can but if you ever get the chance to have fresh jackfruit or ackee it's is awesome also we only eat a specific part of the jackfruit and the seeds are great when roasted as for ackee it's not hard to clean or prepare an it's ackee and saltfish not the other way around 🤗🇯🇲🇯🇲 you guys should try corned beef in a can from Jamaica that would be great

Jamie: It does a job. It doesn’t do thee job.

Jamie: I mean, I’m still going to eat it.
😂😂🤦🏼‍♀️

mikes blooper was painfully relatable. sometimes it's not that you have better alternatives, it's that a tinned, processed slab of something is *exactly* what you need at that moment

Thank you for using the ackee in a way that is well loved and celebrated. Ackee and saltfish is a comfort food for me and so close to my heart as I know it will be for many, many others 🙏🏽😍☺️

Thought we would never see the day when Jamie hates food while Mike devours his plates.

Having one of the normal's have the food THEN try to guess which part came from a can would be pretty cool.

The moment they pulled out jackfruit I was excitedly shouting "Oh my god, jackfruit", because we have have jackfruit trees in our backyard and use the fruit at various stages of ripeness for different dishes.
I'm from Kerala, India btw.

No matter how bad the days been, I always catch myself smiling almost the whole time whenever I watch Sorted videos. Especially love it when you guys get intrigued over local regular foods here down in SEA. Thanks for the making our days better :)
