I think it’s totally reasonable to take a break from the debt for now. We did the same when we bought our house in 2018, no regrets!

Just a heads up, the home buying process takes a long time. It takes an average of 5 months between when you start looking and when you get the keys and that's if you find something you like and your offer is accepted right away. If your lease is up in May, I would highly recommend thinking about starting your search before the end of the year.

I keep a cushion in my account anywhere from 100-300. I usually don’t touch it except for $10 here or there at the end of the month then I just replenish. But at least I know it’s never close to zero.
