I live in Anadarko Oklahoma, which is primarily a Native/Indigenous community, as is much of the surrounding area. I have relatives who work for the Bureau of Indian affairs, or local tribes and they are very nervous about their employment. These jobs keep people close to their families and within five to twenty minutes from home. If they and other people get cut, they won’t just be loosing a job, they will be loosing a community of friends. The tribes and BIA encourage people to foster relationships and they do things together like have luncheons mini trips, etc. so very different from my job, where our bosses discourage any of us from speaking to each other, even on our break time. Individualism serves the interest of the powerful.
