After you get over the initial shock of the scene, it's actually not surprising that Wanda got to this point. She's been going through stuff since she was a kid. Growing up in chaotic Sokovia, losing her parents, being experimented on, used by Ultron, losing her brother, having to kill Vision and then watch Thanos bring him back only to kill him in front of her, getting snapped, getting brought back but unable to get Vision back, seeing Vision being disected, then learning he bought her a property only to see it unfinished. It's trauma on top of trauma and she just could not hold it in anymore. It's been said that the more you bottle up your grief, the greater damage to yourself and to those around you when it finally explodes. Westview and its population were lucky Wanda was not in an enraged state of mind otherwise she could have laid waste to it all. Because the dream of living together in a house and town like a regular couple with kids and friends was foremost in her mind at that moment, that's what she manifested going back to simpler times that we see in the sitcoms where everything is bright, cheery and problems get solved easily and quickly. While Wanda may have created the hex unitentionally as a result of deep grief, you can see that once she changes herself to match the environment, it shows that she knows what's going on and makes the choice to continue it. With that smile, you see her embrace it and she's like "what outside world? He's here, I'm here and this is where we will stay." One can see the appeal, particularly given the state of the world and all the turmoil people are experiencing, who hasn't dreamed of escaping reality. Granted most people probably would not pick 1950's sitcom as their destination (unless you are into that time period), but to each their own. At any rate, this scene, and the series as a whole, is a great exploration of grief and the process of navigating it while giving amazing action, a gripping story and excellent character development.
