In this episode I take an in-depth look at Cooper Tire's latest touring tire, the CS5. In this video talk about what a touring tire is, take the tire out on a dry track followed by some laps on Cooper's wet track. I'll also talk about tread design, hydroplaning, how tires are tested and more.

I have about 55K on my 60k Mile Cooper CS5 Ultra Tourings and am replacing with the same model today. The new model is rated at 70k miles. Seriously, no compromises. Great value, USA made, USA operated company, union employees, tires grip well in the wet and snow. They're not the best on ice, but what non-winter tire is good on ice? Super happy and picked them up for $73.00/tire. After factory and credit card rebate from the installer (Discount Tire), they're net $70/tire installed.

I've had the CS4 tires on my Wife's car for the last 5 years and absolutely love them! Great wet weather traction along with almost acting like a dedicated snow tire during our Ohio winters. Trips to Myrtle Beach and back a couple times a year have also proven their worth. Tomorrow morning I'll be shoeing my car with the new CS5 Grand Touring tires. Hopefully I will get the same year round handling and bad weather traction as I have with the CS4's. Way better than the Goodyear Eagle LS tires that were on the car originally...

I just purchased a set of the CS5 Grand Touring for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Great so far, thanks the review. Have driven on a variety of surfaces and the ride was always smooth and quiet. Traction was even great during a very heavy rain. Have not driven in snow yet but I am expecting they will do fine. I highly recommend these tires, great ride, traction and price.

This was a great review. Right out the gate you explain these tires correctly.

Well done review. I purchased a set of the h rated ultra touring tires for a 2017 ford focus 5 door. Hands above the continental factory tires which were on wear bars at 38k miles. The tire is extremely smooth and quiet. Very grippy on wet and dry asphalt. Turns and corners well also. Highly recommend. Great value at the price point.

I bought Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring tires 225 60 15 for a 1989 5.0L Mustang.

Great tires, and great on wet/dry roads.

I replaced the stock Dunlop tires on my 08 Honda Fit Sport with the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 195 85 R15 tires and they are quieter, still getting the same gas mileage, but are 70.00 cheaper per tire. Due to the warranty with the OEM tires, I kept buying them. Now that the warranty is up I bought the Cooper tires. I would recommend them.
Everyone has their favorites..Goodyear, Michelin, etc. Buy what works for you. Me? I'm staying with Cooper.

Wow, great video... very informative. I just put some cs5 grand tours on my 99 Honda CRV and I am loving them. Havent tried them in the rain yet but the quality is noticeable just driving around dry. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have purchased Cooper tires for my replacement tires since back in 1976 because of my dealer. Right now I have Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tires on my 2011 Tan Buick Lucerne. I replaced the tires on my previous 2011 Gray Buick Lucerne that had Michelin tires on it and the road noise was so loud I had to turn the radio up very loud to hear it. I replace the tires at 40, 000 miles on the Grey car and traded it off when it had 98, 000 miles. I purchased the Tan car 3 years ago and it had 14, 000 miles on it. Now it had 59, 000 miles on it. 58, 000 miles on the Grey car and now 45, 000 miles on the Tan car. The tires have 103, 000 miles on them and they still have 4/32 tread depth on them. It was less that $2.00 difference between the Ultra 60, 000 mile tread wear warranty and Grand with 80, 000 mile tread wear warranty. I do not know how any one could ask for better performance that Cooper CS5 Grand tires could give than this. My only comment is that the name Ultra a person would be the best tire and the Grand would be a step below that. I love Cooper tires and will continue buying them! John Davidson

I have used these tires on My Oldsmobille and Chevrolet mini vans ever since Pirelli quit making the P4000s. They make it seem like you are not in a minivan but rather a racy sedan. Plus they are extremely quiet.

Just got these Cooper tires on my HR-V. The difference between these and the stock Michelin tires was night an day. MUCH BETTER, especially when it comes to noise. They're virtually silent.

Hey Alex, did you end up putting the CS5's on your personal vehicle/s (mentioned at 10:24 on the video)? If so, how are they performing.
