In today's video, we discuss 11 things we've learned in our first year of marriage. We talk about the following:

The change isn't all that it is hyped up to be. Pursuing one another should never stop. Friendships outside of marriage should continue to be a priority. Have a strong financial plan. Some things you just need to let go. Explicitly voice expectations. Learn to compromise. Make your spouse your first phone call. It's okay to assign roles within the relationship. Never complain about each other to other people. Try not to disagree with each other in front of people.

My husband of two years goes and talks about every little thing with his mom. She's know every imperfection of mine now. To the point that she will text me when I'm on my period to try to get me to take a new herb she found to fix my scramps so I'm not so "moody." My husband and I have never even had a real fight, just had disagreements and misunderstandings like every couple, and we have always worked it out. It's very frustrating to have your mother in law try to fix you every time she sees you. Don't gossip about your spouse with your parents! It hurts their relationship with you. I hate going to my in laws now.

While it’s super important to be independent and self-sufficient, you are a team with your partner or spouse and it’s not all about you anymore. My mom left my dad after 20 years and always talks bad about him. He is such a good, God loving guy. My mom was just tired of the “issues of marriage” and left him for another man.
