My brother left me 4 years ago. He cried and said sorry cause he can't protect me. We promise to protect and take care each other if we meet again. And now, we meet again and live together with his beautiful wife. I love them so much. Thanks God ❤

You can see the younger sibling holding back tears. I’m sorry for anyone who has or is going through this.❤

This happened with me and my sister. She turned 18, joined the military and left. She got stationed 5hrs away and a few years later, helped me move out to live with her in an apartment we shared the day after I graduated high school. We continued to live in a safe environment with each other for years before going our separate ways. I am forever grateful that she looked out for me.

*edit* oh my god sister I’m famous!

I can assure you the other side can also be devastating. I fought feelings of guilt over escaping my home for years after moving out, but i knew I was too traumatised to help as much as I could. When you fight for years, sometimes escaping feels like a dam breaking, just overwhelming you completely.

It's heartbreaking, but you can't help someone swim when you're drowning too.

Toxic home might have toxic parents, but always a caring sibling ❤

I remember talking to my psychologist about this. I did stay longer because I was concerned for my lil sis. She’s no longer around. I hope she’s reborn in a loving home that deserves her.

My brother is 4 years older. He did this at 18. It was so terrible and I was so incredibly alone and isolated ... Its been 34 years later and he apologized to me the other day. I told him he had to get out. We were kids and I wasn't his responsibility. This wasn't his burden to bear.

My siblings just followed me. 😂 We were all adults when I left and they just hopped on giving my mom an other reason to blame me for anything going wrong in her life. But we did have the best time after we left and it gave us the opportunity to support each other on our healing journey. Since I had financially the best job I never asked from them a penny. They both finished their studies at the university while living with me. My 2 sisters now live separate chasing their dreams. I could not be prouder.

I left at 14.
My sister was only 3.
I had my mother stripped of her parental rights over me and then I invoked my sibling rights and got have my sister once a month at my foster home.
I was able to protect her and have people watching my mum.
We are so close. She knows I fought for her even when I was a child.
I love my sister!

It’s so sad because the older sibling usually protect the younger sibling and now the younger sibling has to fight for her life alone…

As the younger sibling that's still in the toxic home I'm so so grateful to see my sister living happily with her husband now. I wish nothing but happiness for her and I'm so proud of her for making a safe and loving home for herself. ❤️❤️❤️

As the oldest, I completely relate. Even though I didn't move out, I ended up leaving to live with my grandparents for the summer; almost 3 months. My second oldest sister said that she was excited that I was leaving, so there "finally wouldn't be anymore stupid fights".

When I came back, she hugged me while crying and said that she didn't want to be the oldest daughter in the house ever again. My parents treated her with the same shit they did to me as soon as I left. Only issue was, I had learned how to cope with it. She didn't.
