I guess most of mine is my books. 30 of 80 books I’ve read so far this year have been from the library or borrowed from friends. Another 47 have been free BorrowBox ebooks/audiobooks or kindle books. And when I do buy books for myself I try to buy them second hand.

I run my Birkenstocks into THE GROUND and they still get a good 4-5 years and I promise you they’d last a normal wearer a decade or more lol. I just wear them everyday cause I’m too lazy to lace shoes if I’m not working out.

Grandma received an olive green headscarf when she was around 8-11 years old in the 50s. I still wear that scarf today; it doesn’t have a single tear or hole either!

My dad was a pack rat for decades. Questions aplenty, ridicule and laughs from family and friends along every step of his journey.
Guess who inherited the pack rat gene? In recent years my wife has seen the light and now encourages (a little bit) my compulsion to see the shine under the shit.
If there is one thing I would encourage with young adults finding their way...learn to dimension wood by hand. A crosscut and ripping saw, hand planes (general, side and face jointing). No power required and you can repurpose wood for furniture and home fixtures alike. To repurpose is great, but to repurpose to the best of one's ability is extra sweet.
The sudden onrush of ideas and design thought will be entirely your own fault.
