underconsumption really is just normal consumption but since people on the internet always buy new things and do overconsumption people now think this is underconsumption. I still have a quilt that’s probably 9 years old and I’m still using it, and a bunch of hand me downs. People try finding happiness in money and objects and while it can make you happy, it should be in great moderation. I love this account since it’s making it more popular to be happy with what you have.

This is normal for everyone in portugal, sometimes even less. We reuse the plastic/paper bags you get at the grocery stores to take out the trash in our homes so we dont have to buy trash bags lol

I miss those glasses with fun drawings on them. I remember we had a bunch of them when I was a kid (mostly looney toons ones I think) and, without me realizing, they disappeared.
These simple things are so meaningful.

I love my mismatched cups! Each one tells a story. Also I have so many dang tote bags it’s silly. I like finding neutral ones for cheap and I use them in lieu of gift bags and I tell them, “It’s a new bag for going to Aldi!” 😂

I really like the challenge of going back to how my grandma used to live with reusable stuff. She didn’t have the glitzy things. She was a depression, world war 2 kid. She made sure things lasted. Albeit to a fault but it feels nice to challenge myself and tap into sustainable living by honoring and continuing things a previous generation did. They made due with what they could and there shouldn’t be as much shame in that.
