Modern concrete can generally self-heal cracks up to 2mm, if it does heal. Roman concrete heals cracks up to 6mm thick. Perfect material for anywhere near a fault line

They also used sea water in mixing. Apparently. The salinity and mineral content greatly aid in the composition of the final product. Also, "Roman concrete", hardens more when poured under water than when poured and cured on solid ground. Incredible stuff.
