I got a degree and was academically published twice. I’ve worked in my field of degree but I make more money hourly and with overtime in the trades (oilfield) than I did previously. It really comes down to the margins and saturation

I feel like degrees that require a high level of understanding of material like Mathematics, sciences, Economics requires schooling. Many other areas of “higher” education is a fools game. We need to also get trade schools back at the high school level and stop pushing college. We need skilled labor.

All things being equal, it was worth it. Just a BBA from an online school free through the military plus the GI bill. My actual work just feels easier between both the degree and experience at the same time.

It depends on the degree. If you get a useful employable degree without going into to much debt then its absolutely worth it. Is college the only path to success and wealth? No.. not by a long shot. But it is a viable path if you do it right.

Never went to school got a GED no college not even trade school, got into construction 2 years then into waste management 2 years. Yesterday just bought my 6 dump truck, have a decent sized electrical contracting company as well.
My friends who went to college are all realizing if they would of listened and took the money they put into college and put into a trade or even to something better they would of been somewhere and not still renting with 70k debt.

I'd rather go to trade school and I did. I also did 2 years of college regretted every minute of it and now I make twice as much as I would have going into debt (I'm a welder)

10-15 years? Try 30 years as a minimum.

This is ignorance at its peak. If I went and got a gender studies degree, yeah it’s a waste of money. But if I went and got a biology degree to become a research assistant in that field, it is indeed necessary.

I work full time as a robotics technician(2 years), with a background in electrical panel building and wiring (3 years) and an associates degree, im going back to school for a business admin with a major in information systems, while getting a masters certification in robotics and going to community college to get certifications in programmable logic controlers. Even with all this im finding it hard to move up woth my current employer. Does anyone have any suggestions. This stress of all this has started to show, however i feel its necessary if i ever want to get anywhere thoughts?
