Alcan Springs - Custom Leaf Springs for Ford E350 4x4 Van

I have had quite a bit of work done to the front end of my van since the 4x4 conversion to get it to ride and handle better on road and off road, but I have neglected my rear end. So I contact Alcan Spring in Grand Junction Colorado and had them build custom leaf packs for the rear axle of the van. These Leaf packs by Alcan Spring are made for my van's specific lift and weight. This allows me to remove the lift block giving me more travel, better ride and removes the potential for axle rap. I think custom leaf springs are a overlooked and often underrated upgrade that should be considered on any van or overland vehicle build, especially if you plan to do a suspension lift. Alcan Springs are %100 made in America.

Thanks for the video. I just picked up my Sprinter from ALCAN……best money I’ve spent on the van to date. Those guys ROCK! 😊

Right on Lou! Way to educate us on your manufacturing process. So many people in the automotive industry are boneheads, so it's refreshing to see a professional shop at work.

Man it's good to see a shop where the guys top down know what they're talking about and doing AND they source the steel in country. Great video!

I have a very similar van, just the longer version. I saw this video and was tempted to drive to Colorado to get new leaf springs in the rear. I figured there had to be a place closer in CA and there was! Sacramento Spring was the answer to my needs. My rig was crabbing a bit and I knew my spring set up was not correct, just by looking at it. The guys at Sacramento Spring were awesome. I did the 1.5 hour drive to show them what I thought were the issues. In between trips, I dropped off my van and picked it up 1.5 days later. All spring work done right there in the shop as well. No more crabbing, springs are now the correct length and there is no sag in rear when towing one of my toys. So, for Central and Northern CA people, there is a place closer than Colorado for our van suspension issues. This episode of Primal Outdoors motivated me to get things dialed in on my van. Thanks!

This was waaaay more interesting than I expected. Nicely done, and looks like a great solution for the van (and Daisy!)

I really enjoyed seeing how the spring leafs are made! That is a huge improvement over the old worn out springs that had the tipsy lift block between the springs and axle.

You will love those springs I'm sure! Had a set installed on a 2021modified F350 4X4 Shotbed with a 4" lift. Highway Products service bed and Hallmark Milner camper. Traveled 5000 miles with stock leaf springs then another 5000 miles or so with Alcan spings. GAME CHANGER!

Yes, I found this episode very interesting and useful.
I very like when you get into the technical stuff with professional technicians.
Between AJ’s and Alcan Springs, I could get my old ‘99 F-350 7.3 diesel dialed in for the long run.
Happy Trails

Just ordered some off nissnect for the frontier can’t wait! Went with 3in lift and 399-499lbs to accommodate bed rack, tent and rear bumper with tire and jerry can hitch

Really can relate to the quality craftsmanship of this shop being a machinist for over 35 years! Proud of their product with American 🇺🇸 made steel. Money well spent Jason on the new springs! They more than likely outlive the Sasquatch. Two thumbs up.

I upgraded my Taco with an Icon stage 3 kit, came with the add a leaf...a good kit I like but it sagged while towing my trailer off-road which kind of sucked so I added air bags for while towing and made a huge difference...so much nicer! If the air bags fail I may look into upgrading with a custom leaf spring kit like this...thanks for the post!

Super awesome video, I’ve really wanted to know how a custom spring shop works and how it might help my truck. I don’t have blocks, but I do have an add a leaf, and air bags. I wish my truck stayed one weight all the time, otherwise I wouldn’t bother with air bags, but it’s all over the place, from light daily driver to family camper to hauling lumber. As my leaf springs wear out down the road I might look into a custom pack like this. Thanks for all the content Jason!

The video of the springs in action does look qualitatively different with the Alcan springs looking much more adaptable.
