The new bang and olufsen HX ANC headphones are a fine pair of headphones that feature exquisite build quality, a super long battery life and a delightful neutral sound signature. But today we’re going to see how they stake up against everybody’s favorites the Sony 1000XM4’s and Bose NC 700’s. Cause even though I really like the HX’s… if active noise cancellation is a big deal to you the HX’s will might leave you wanting more.

Great review.
I am beginning to see how the build quality is a significant factor if you are choosing a headphone for a few years. No one wants to pay these amounts every year.
For that reason, I am really looking to see how they compare to the Sennheiser Momentum 3 for sound quality. I think the ANC is the same or slightly better but I am intrigued to hear how you rate the sound quality.

I tested the HX's at my local B&O store and I gotta say, after years of using the WH-XM3's, longevity is something I'm looking more for in my next pair of headphones. I've taken good care of those XM3's, and yet several plastic pieces from the headband have broken off from the bending from putting on / removing countless times, the extension detents just don't hold like they used to, and the earpads have been suddenly rapidly disintegrating. I think I sat down with the HX's for a good 15-20 minutes and was really impressed with the overall sound quality and slick, ease of use of their phone companion app. I never cared for the Sony app -- it's slow to load and recognize your headphones *every time* you open it. The B&O app does a little animation and it's good to go. I'm actually usually an open-back headphone user at home and TOO much ANC can actually make me feel paranoid about missing someone trying to get my attention. IMO I found the HX to block the most important bands of noise but I could still hear people which I actually prefer. I'm just about ready to retire these XM3's and I think the HX's are justifiable for the price for what I'm looking for.

I have tested both Sony, Bose and B&O. For me B&O is a clear winner. Audio, comfort and design are just what I ask for in good headphones.

I went with the HX. Yes the Bose kill it on ANC. But build quality and overall sound replication with Bluetooth 5.1 the B&O kill it. So damn sexy too

I've owned the HX's since may. Yes, the noise cancelling isn't on par as my previous airpods pro, but they make up for this with having a killer battery life, luxurious and timeless design and the sound quality is something else. Instrument seperation and clarity is top notch. The only annoyances I've had are I wish the earcups were a little deeper and wider and the touchpad doesn't always stop my music when i press it. And there is a blueooth delay when connected to my hp spectre, but on my iPhone and iPad there is no delay. So I think this is more a laptop issue tbh.

What is most important to me is the noise cancelling especially for airplane travelling . My Bose 35 don’t cut out the plane motor and I have to wear earplugs. Are you able to advise?

The Star Wars magazines feels a bit pushed. A clean desk would be better imo.

Not a fan of B&O HX noise cancellation. Could still hear a lot of noise from PA system, wind and motor when riding trains.
