Dubspot instructor, Ableton Certified Trainer, and electronic musician Thavius Beck returns with a brand-new season of Did You Know? We launched the series back in January, and for eight consecutive Mondays, Thavius shared invaluable production advice, tips, tricks, and techniques and examined some of the less explored and slightly hidden features in Ableton Live. In the latest installment of the series, Thavius shares an extremely helpful tip for performing or DJing with Live; he explains how to create essential key or MIDI mappings in Live.

the more video's I watch from you, the more I think I don't need a midicontroller. but I need one for tweeking, but launching clips with your keyboard works really fine

Great video, I find it a lot easier to use the arrow keys to scroll up n' down the scenes. And I use P to launch them.

I never knew what that number box next to the scene up and down meant, thanks. I'd love to see a video about doing a live set. I'm curious about how many tracks you use (if you try to keep to a certain number), if you bounce everything to audio, or keep midi tracks, and roughly how many tunes you need to have ready to feel comfortable.

for my own live sets I use 4 tracks like decks (2 A decks, 2 B decks) and assign them to different sides of the crossfader. the tracks have full songs that I've made so I'm essentially djing my own tunes and running them through all kinds of effects. Maybe I'll do a video breaking down my live set (when I'm ready to make a new one... haha!)

They should make a dubspot out in the west coast!
I would love to join dubspot and expand my production skills!
New York is just so far away

i love your videos,
but i prefer the stuff about more "musical" features like the reverb's re-pitch mode mode
the last ones were kind of "technical"

can you tell me if there is a way or a Max 4 Life Plugin that lets me do:
1) assign more than 1 note to a macro? (midi mapping in ableton will only replace it)

2) how i can use 2 notes to TURN ON / OFF something seperately and not toggle (like activating a track for example), coz i cant use my footcontroller with this toggle shit on stage where i dont see what is happening on screen

thanks in advance
