Local anesthetics are used to block nerve transmission, and to reduce or eliminate the sensation of pain in a small area of the body with or without general anesthesia and sedation. This local anesthesia pharmacology lecture covers topics like the mechanism of action, onset, duration, and metabolism of local anesthetics, the structure of local anesthetics, clinical action, and finally local anesthesia toxicity. As a board-certified anesthesiologist, I have both theoretical and practical knowledge of the use of local anesthetics. I have included useful tips you can memorize and mnemonics that will help you whether you are taking an exam or using local anesthesia on patients.
Thank you for watching.
