Shear force acting at any section of a beam is the net transverse force which is trying to shear the beam at that section and it can be obtained by summing up all the transverse forces acting any one side of the section considered. Bending moment at any section is the net moment produced by all forces acting one side of that section which is trying to bend the beam about that section. Both shear force and bending moment are important design parameters to be considered in the design of a beam.
In this video the relation between SF , BM and rate of loading is derived which may be effectively utilized in drawing the SF and BM diagram.
