Shear force acting at any section of a beam is the net transverse force which is trying to shear the beam at that section and it can be obtained by summing up all the transverse forces acting any one side of the section considered. Bending moment at any section is the net moment produced by all forces acting one side of that section which is trying to bend the beam about that section. Both shear force and bending moment are important design parameters to be considered in the design of a beam.
In this video detailed steps to draw Shear force and Bending moment diagram for a cantilever beam subjected to different types of loads is explained.
